Muscle Car Masters Eastern Creek NSW

G’day Holden Enthusiasts

We spent this Fathers Day at the Muscle Car Masters at Eastern Creek NSW. We were there to support our Holden Heaven Racing Blogger, Colin Tierney racing his #183 Group Nb EH Holden. We met quite a few Holden Car Club members and Holden Heaven facebook friends. We also handed out 2000 Holden Heaven stickers to fellow Holden enthusiasts and were also lucky enough to meet Alan Grice, Kevin Bartlett & Bob Morris.

Of course, the highlight of the weekend was seeing and hearing all of the the fantastic race cars from all categories. There were dozens of Holdens competing in the Touring Car Masters, Group A & C and Group Nb & Nc. Many spectators were reliving fond memories of touring cars from their past. Others were getting to see many of these cars in action for the first time. I really enjoyed seeing the EHs, Toranas, Monaros, Commodores and the replica Brock Toranas and Commodores.

Holden Heaven V8 Ute Hot Laps with Andrew Schultz

G’day Holden Racing Fans

Earlier this month, Andrew ‘The Sarge’ Schultz invited me down to watch his first Australian V8 Ute Series race at Winton Raceway. I was welcomed into Andrew’s V8 ute pit crew and provided with a hands-on behind the scenes experience for the entire weekend. It was a fantastic opportunity to get up close and personal with all the drivers and teams in all the categories. I also enjoyed getting my hands dirty: changing wheels and tyres, bleeding brakes and cleaning parts. The V8 Ute Series teams appear to be a great bunch of guys offering a lot of genuine support to each other.

I was also lucky enough to get some hot laps around Winton Raceway with Andrew in his #20 Holden VE Commodore SS ute. It is simply amazing how fast these utes go and how quickly they stop. Although Winton Raceway is a paddock circuit, those walls just beyond the ripple strips appear very close. It’s also impressive that the drivers can see anything from such a low seating position. The speed, the noise and the g forces were fantastic!

Andrew was also incredibly generous with his support for Holden Heaven as his ute proudly featured Holden Heaven as his major sponsor. This gave our official home for the Australian Holden Enthusiasts Community some fantastic exposure. The red FC Holden ute logo and Holden Heaven livery was a real hit with Holden racing fans, as were the 7,000 Holden Heaven stickers I handed out in the crowd.

I would like to sincerely thank Andrew and his team for a fantastic motorsport experience that I’ll never forget. Remember to keep following Andrew’s progress throughout the year via his racing blog and Holden Heaven. It’s great to see a real Holden fan and genuine privateer having a go at one of the toughest series in Australian motorsport.
